COMPREHENSIVE EYE EXAM

At Somers Eye Center, we hold ourselves to the highest standards with the services we offer, and in every aspect of the work we do.  Your eyes are a window to your health.  The advanced technology we have allows us to look farther into that window.

BASELINE TESTING

Before seeing our Doctors we need to get some baseline readings. We get detailed reports of your current prescription and eye pressure.  We also take images of the back of your eyes to see if anything is going on.

OPTOS RETINAL SCREENING

Some of the first signs of diseases such as stroke, diabetes and even some cancers can be seen in your retina, often before you have other symptoms.  An optomap makes it easier to see them.  The optomap ultra-widefield retinal image is a unique technology that captures more than 80% of your retina in one panoramic image while traditional imaging methods typically only show 15% of your retina at one time.  The optos screening is fast, painless, and recommended every time you visit us.

WELLNESS SCREENING

In our continuing effort to bring our patients the most advanced technology, Somers Eye Centers is proud to announce Wellness Screening as an important part to our comprehensive eye exam.

The Wellness Screening provides:

  • Detailed Angioplex OCT scan to show ultra-clear visualization of microvascular blood flow in the eye.

  • Optomap Retinal scan- 200°  view of the back of the eye. Conventional testing only allows for less than 45° view. In many cases patients can avoid dilation.

  • Tear Lab Osmolarity Testing – Dry eye can be cause by multiple factors. Tear Lab Osmolarity Testing allows us to take a sample of your tears and grade the quality of your tears.

  • A permanent record will be created, which allows our Doctors to compare your Wellness Screenings each year to check for changes.
