Treatments for Cataracts
-
Eye Glasses. Many patients at first can get away with new glasses, strong progressives/bifocals, magnifiers, or other visual aids.
-
Cataract Surgery. This is the most successful procedure to get rid of cataracts. 9 out of 10 patients have better vision after surgery. Cataract surgery breaks up the clouded lens and the surgeon replaces your old lens with a new IOL ( intraocular lens). Some patients may choose to be fit with a premium IOL lens, which gives the best chance of not having to wear glasses after cataract surgery.
Make sure you talk to our staff about Cataract Surgery and have them explain your options. There are different types of surgery options and different types of lens you can get. After Cataract Surgery make sure you ask our opticians about sunglasses and anti reflective coatings.
